Word Cup Qualifiers - Europe

After the conclusion of the UEFA League of Nations, we would have the World Cup Qualifiers - Europe.

Preliminary Round

First, we would have the preliminary round with the third classified of League B with the first classified of League C. The League B teams would go to the pot 1 of the draw and League C teams to pot 2. The four games would be determined by a team from the draw pot 2 with a team from pot 1. There would be only one match, of each game, at home of the team from draw pot 2. The four winning teams would participate in group stage.

Group Stage

After the preliminary round would be the group stage with the following teams:

4 teams from Preliminary Round

8 teams from League A - the last two of each group.

8 teams from League B – the first and second classified from each group.

The 20 teams would be divided into 5 groups of 4, first in each group ensuring the presence in World Cup.

In the group stage, each team has only 3 games.

Teams “A” and “B” have 2 home games, while teams “C” and “D” have only 1 home game.

Pot 1 is used to define which teams get "A" or "B" designation.

Pot 2 is used to define which teams get “C” or “D” designation. 

World Cup – UEFA Teams

The teams that would participate in the World Cup would be the following:

8 teams from League A - the first two classified from each group.

5 teams from Group stage World Cup Qualifiers - Europe.

It seems a fair prize for its performance that the top two in each group in League A would have assured their presence in World Cup without disputing the Group Stage.

With this new UEFA League of Nations format, being in League A when we are qualifying for the World Cup, would be a guarantee of World Cup Qualifiers dispute. All teams would fight to be in the leagues A or at least in the league B, making UEFA League of Nations more challenging and interesting. A possible relegation to League C may mean a farewell to the World Cup.

If the World Cup increase the number of participants, and UEFA will be able to participate with 16 teams, the 3 additional teams to the current situation will be the best three teams in second-place from all groups in the group stage.
